Pulincunnoo Grama Panchayat has 16 wards. The members of the Grama Panchayat are directly elected by the voters through elections. From among the elected members, the President and Vice President are elected on the basis of majority support.In every Grama Panchayat, four Standing Committees are formed for different responsibilities, namely:FinanceDevelopmentWelfareHealth and EducationAll members of a Panchayat are included in at least one Standing Committee. History of Grama Panchayat

Although Pulincunnoo was once a vast water body, it was made suitable for paddy cultivation by building outer bunds and draining the water. This area has made great progress in education, health and the cooperative movement. St. Joseph's School, which was started in 1898, was the first school for girls in Kuttanad. Later, as health services grew, a government dispensary was started and it rose to become a taluk hospital. Family welfare centers and mother and child care centers are functioning here. The cooperative movement is of great importance as many cooperative societies are functioning in the panchayat.
