About Kudumbasree
Kudumbashree, the poverty alleviation scheme of the Government of Kerala, was launched on 17 May 1998. Kudumbashree is one of the largest women's organisations in the world working towards the social and economic empowerment of women.
The basic unit of Kudumbashree is the Neighbourhood Group (NHG). The Neighbourhood Groups function as Area Development Societies (ADS) at the ward level and as Community Development Societies (CDS) at the panchayat level. Kudumbashree is actively working in the areas of self-employment, microfinance, agricultural development, job skills training, health and social welfare activities, and coordination of government schemes.
In Pulincunnoo Grama Panchayat, Kudumbashree has been playing a crucial role in ensuring the economic self-sufficiency and social progress of women through various Neighbourhood Groups and activities.
